Daryea and the Near East Dancers belly dance troupe is dedicated to the authentic presentation of dance cultures of the middle East. In addition to their efforts to recreate the cultural idioms of generations past, research, study, and practice become the ingredients of success in their ever evolving repertoire of works.  Founded in 1976, Daryea began studying with all of the contemporary masters of Middle Eastern Dance. Her students and professional dancer partners have enjoyed many journeys in dance. In 1997 Daryea expanded her knowledge greatly with a trip to Turkey, gathering movies of dance from the Cappadoccia areas and Instanbul. Daryea's dance troupe has been seen dancing from Chicago, to Madison, to Milwaukee, to Orlando, and South Bend, Indiana. Based in Rockford, Illinois, students and professionals enjoy a variety of classes and performance opportunities. |
